Luí (November 4, 1923 – July 7, 1984) was a notorious and wealthy Peruvian hustler and an exclusive ladies man. In 1963, he had a short-lived career in Peruvian politics. Known as “El Gallo Negro” The Black Rooster, he is regarded as the wealthiest under world figure in Peruvian history.
As a teenager on the streets of Lima, he began his criminal career by allegedly stealing gravestones and sanding them down for resale to smugglers.
In March 1956 at the age of 33, Luí married Akemi Tan who was 15 years old. Miss Tan was the daughter of Shinobu Tan, known as the current head of the Yamaguchi, the largest yakuza syndicate since the mid 20th century. Together they had two children: Daniela and Paula.
Luí created and lived in a luxurious estate known as ‘Luís Tans’. Alive by day and smokey by night Luís Tans is frequented by characters of every stature imaginable.
