It's a bustling Friday night in the city of Sydney, and you have your three very honest, sometimes reckless, but loyal best friends since childhood with you. Your favourite go-to Friday night is full and you didn’t book, so where else in Sydney are there places to enjoy that are wallet-friendly? First Table has you sorted for new adventures with your best friends to expand your culinary horizons.
In Situ
If you've eaten all the food in the broken fridge, In-Situ is the perfect first stop. Established and operating for almost two decades, it’s one of the oldest and a firm favourite on the iconic Northern Beaches. Sharing plates (don’t bring your Joey), pizzas, and amazing cocktails, the vibe is definitely on at In-Situ.
Burger Head
If you have a Joey in your group that doesn’t share food, one of Burger Head’s three locations may be your new go-to Friday night eats. Informing Burger Head’s award-winning burgers, owned by two twenty-somethings, is the perfect location for a crafty burger. With housemade pickles, specialty sauces, and beef minced on site in between nothing but a perfect brioche bun you know you're in for a treat, that won’t taste like feet.
Blackbird Cafe
Don't hang up on this cafe or your mates when it comes to Blackbird Cafe. Offering an extensive menu with all tastes, they know what the Sydney crowd is after. Overlooking the Darling Harbour, sip away at an exotic cocktail and choose from a simple Steak to popular Italian and aromatic flavours of Asia. You may end up full, but if you stop eating, you’ll definitely regret it.
The Cumberland
Cheese is milk that you chew and you get plenty of chewable milk at The Cumberland with their selection of share plates and cheese boards. A stylish underground speakeasy-style bar, you and your friends are guaranteed a great night, with over 250 selections of whiskey and Spanish-style tapas, you’ll have more than your fill of a jar of jam with a little spoon.
Pappy's Bar
If you still haven’t found the right spot, don’t give up like a dinosaur would. Pappy’s Bar is where Sydney’s trendiest socialites choose to spend their evenings, being the vintage hotspot of the town. Artsy vibes, tasty tacos, stacked burgers, and waffle fries await to be paired with craft beers and old-fashioned cocktails. So, Pivot! To Pappy’s Bar!
Bar Mille
Italian? Oh, give me! Bar Mille is the CBD's unofficial house of fun where you'll find the funky vibes that will keep you there far longer than you had planned. From wood-fired pizzas, spiced meatballs, and lamb ragout, you won't be leaving hungry. With a cocktail in hand and a plate of sirloin to match, here come the meat sweats!
So, If your fridge is broken, and Brussels sprouts are worse than no food, these wallet-friendly restaurants are the ideal places to be with friends, because, in the end, you’re not alone. And at some point, you just gotta figure it out and it’s all gonna come together…. searching for a restaurant.
