Adelaide diners have one very good reason to be an early bird this week, following the launch of dinner deals website, First Table.
Hot on the success of First Table in Sydney, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Brisbane, Adelaide diners can now enjoy half price, early bird dining at 14 restaurants throughout the city, with plenty more to come. The launch of the Adelaide site sees the expansion of the First Table offering to over 400 restaurants, across 21 cities throughout New Zealand and Australia.
Developed by Queenstown-based Mat Weir, First Table was launched in New Zealand in 2014. The clever idea quickly took off in Mr Weir’s hometown giving him the impetus to replicate the model in other cities.
Restaurants listed on First Table offer a 50% discount to diners who book the ‘first table’ of the night, generally between 5pm and 6.30pm. Diners pay a $10 booking fee to get the deal.
‘The beauty of First Table is that it is a win-win model,” said First Table founder, Mat Weir.
“Early bird diners are rewarded with half-price dining at some of the most popular restaurants in their city, and restaurant owners benefit from access to a tool that drives business to the typically quiet timeslots. And we all know the value of a busy restaurant rather than empty tables.”
Adelaide diners looking for early deals will salivate over the selection of restaurants on offer. First Table aims to offer a broad selection of well-loved and high-quality establishments.
One of the big names on the list is Adelaide’s much-loved Italian restaurant, Assaggio. First Table diners will be able to enjoy Assaggio’s award-winning fare at half the price – as long as they get in early! Other Hyde Park options include Farina 00 Pasta & Wine and Plato’s Philosopher’s Kitchen.

Glenelg residents are sure to love local favourites like Esca, Zucca, El Carbon, and Pantai for early bird dining. See the full range of Adelaide restaurants on First Table here.
With over 100,000 diners now using First Table in New Zealand and Australia, Adelaide restaurateurs are joining a well-proven model that attracts savvy early bird diners.
“Restaurants join First Table because of its ability to drive patronage in typically off-peak times,” says Weir. “And they stay with us because they know they will always maintain control over the number of tables they want to offer each day and each timeslot.”
Weir says he is planning to continue the growth of First Table thanks to the positive feedback he receives from diners and restaurateurs alike.
Next cab off the rank for First Table is Hobart. “Then, we may look at going even further afield,” says Weir. “Stay tuned!”
