A respect for traditional cooking methods and sustainable food is well and truly alive at the Mediterranean-inspired Mercado Restaurant.

The dining room is elegant and stylish with white walls, polished dark tables and the perfect blend of ambient lighting. While it’s suited for a group, it also makes a divine date place thanks to the stylish setting and the buzzing atmosphere. And, given its Ash Street location, it makes a fabulous choice for a pre-theatre meal.

And what a meal you’ll have. Chef Jason Dean’s passion for food is celebrated in the traditional cooking techniques used by the kitchen team. Inhouse meat curing, animal butchery, bread-baking and preserving are all done on-site, resulting in a menu that truly features some of the best and freshest ingredients you’ll find in Sydney.

The dishes themselves are seasonal, with Mercado working closely with local small growers and producers to create food that tastes sensational and heroes the produce.

The food is perfect for sharing, with Spanish-style tapas plates divided into smaller, medium and large selections. Mercado is a licensed restaurant, with wine, beer, spirits and cocktails all available.
