Perth and Germany might feel like two very different, far-away worlds, but at Duckstein Brewery, they're crossing oceans to bring you a traditional German dining experience like no other.

Not only are they specialists in authentic German food, they're also leaders in craft brewing in Western Australia. And they certainly aren't subtle about it (which we love) and are celebrating their legacy with barrels all over the shop, some of which also double as stools. Apart from that, the restaurant could easily situate you in a remote German mountain town with traditional Gasthaus furniture, rustic details and hand-drawn illustrations of traditional German life.

The menu is as hearty as you might expect with giant sausages, schnitzel and towering burgers causing quite the stir. If you prefer to enjoy your own plate, tap into your greedy side with a sausage grill that piles on the bratwurst, black pudding, fried potatoes and mustard for a meat feast you won't forget in a hurry, Then you have chicken schnitzel, the signature brewers pan filled with stewed veggies and sausage, and Berliner currywurst.

There are also some amazing plates to share and the German cuisine suits this style of dining perfectly. Huddle around an Oktoberfest or Schweinshaxe platter as you say 'Prost' with a dark beer, Hafeweiss or seasonal ale in hand. And did you even go to Germany if you didn't have an apple strudel to finish? May that persuade you to indulge in this most traditional of desserts. It's half fruit anyway!
