Ish doesn't like to be put into a box or defined in black and white terms. All you need to know is that they're offering a modern-ish taste of India that also celebrates the joy of centuries-old Indian traditions.

They're not your average Indian restaurant. Instead of familiar homey vibes, they've gone straight for an edgy, modern layout that plays with monochrome and rustic colour combinations. One room basks in the simplicity of the black and white colour scheme and minimal accessories to match whilst the other warms things up with exposed red brick walls, brass décor and bistro lights that are decidedly European in feel. Like we said, they're neither one thing nor the other.

Expect a varied and playful menu that dips its toes into a handful of Indian traditions. Here, familiar dishes like lamb seekh kebab, Kerala beef curry and Bengali lamb curry stand aside from the more surprising offerings of cured kingfish with chicken fat and mint, roti duck tacos made with South Indian spices, and a prawn and eggplant moilee curry. Add to that their own takes on the famous butter chicken, makhani paneer and palak paneer and you have a menu that seeks to surprise and delight.
