In the heart of Hobart's Maritime precinct sits a traditional, heritage listed sandstone building. First licensed in 1846, it was built for Mr Charles Gaylor, one of Hobart's early settlers. Gaylor originally called it 'Chop House', referring to the hearty meals that could be obtained there.
Over the years, it has grown to include the adjacent buildings and has been converted into a hotel and award-winning restaurant.
This friendly restaurant is known for its tasty seafood dishes, particularly locally bought scallops and mussels. Head Chef Alex and his staff source fish from Constitution dock and all vegetables and meat are sourced in Hobart and delivered fresh daily to the hotel.
Enjoy Tasmanian oysters, salt and pepper squid and seafood chowder. Or, opt for bounty from the land with marinated wallaby fillet or venison sausages. There's a wide range of beers and wines to complement your meal.
