Introducing another gem from the Nativo Hospitality group, Nu'u is bringing an authentic taste of Oaxacan food and mezcal to Sydney.
Specific to the Pacific-facing region in Mexico, the Oaxacan cuisine is one of the lesser-known ones in Mexico's vast recipe book. But Nu'u isn't one to do things by the book. Executive Chef Manuel Diaz is proud to present an exciting menu that doesn't conform to the very limited idea we have of Mexican cooking. And, in keeping with this restaurant's undeniable authenticity, it's designed to feel like home, inviting diners to spend time lounging on the bar or in cosy cubby holes.
The menus are smaller than what you're probably used to, but they serve to emphasize the eatery's commitment to quality over quantity. Lunch serves up tacos filled with slow-cooked beef brisket and dry chilli marinade, triangles filled with tender pork and traditional Oaxacan flan with baked caramel custard.
As the sun sets, other delights enter the menu. The Al Pastor skewers boast succulent pork with an Oaxacan salsa, the marinated potatoes are paired with flavoursome shiitake and the humble guacamole is elevated with confit peanuts and tostadas. At Nu'u, less is more.
