Izakaya Publico

Japanese dining with a difference, Izakaya Publico is an irresistible blend of old and new.

At the heart of Izakaya Publico is drama and spectacle. The high ceilings make way for enormous walls that bear the incredible stamp of celebrated artists who have interpreted heroes and heroines in their own way. Such illustrations make one feel mighty small but also serve as a magnificent backdrop for a group supper. And in true izakaya style, the kitchen is exposed to make clearly visible the theatrical flambées that make the food what it is.

The menu is wonderfully diverse and makes for a gorgeous sharing supper amongst friends. Fill the table with glazed skewers bearing chunks of wagyu in truffle butter, marinated pork belly and crispy chicken thigh. Don't forget to add on some gyoza, soft-shell crab buns and a selection of tempura; these add a whole heap of texture and variety.

As for bigger plates, the izakaya employs multiple woks to toss and fry chicken udon whilst the big pots are slowly bubbling away, transforming the wagyu and pork belly hot pots into flavour-tasting broths that the whole group can get behind. Finally, the grill is working its magic too with teriyaki salmon, cauliflower steak and wagyu. There's simply nothing Izakaya Publico can't do.
